All animals need the security of loving homes where they can rebuild their lives and find happiness. At Takis Shelter there are NO adoption fees. We ask only that you pay for the required pet passport and an IATA-compliant animal carrier.

Get Involved…Make a Difference.

Donating to the shelter means the animals can be continued to be cared for. Your donation helps pay for necessities like food, a warm bed and veterinary care.

Volunteers make a huge contribution to the work done at Takis Shelter. If you are passionate about animals and want to make a difference, come and help out.

Fostering an animal is a rewarding way of supporting the work of the shelter. When you help care for one animal, we're able to rescue and care for another.

Explore Crete

Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands. The capital and the largest city is Heraklion. As of 2011, the region had a population of 623,065. Crete forms a significant part of the economy and cultural heritage of Greece, while retaining its own local cultural traits (such as its own poetry and music). It was once the centre of the Minoan civilization (c. 2700–1420 BC), which is the earliest known civilization in Europe. The ancient palace of Knossos also lies in Crete.
