Some of the animals in our care have been neglected or mistreated in the past. For them, life is only just beginning. They deserve more than a roof over their heads they need safety, stability, and a loving home where they can slowly rebuild trust and truly find happiness.
At Takis Shelter, our adoption policy is based on one core belief: every adoption must be the right match for both the animal and the human.
For us, adoption is not a transaction but the beginning of a shared life. The dynamic between you and the animal has to feel right for both sides.
Our Adoption Process
1. Application form
The first step is to complete the adoption application form using the button below. This helps us understand your lifestyle, and expectations.
2. Personal conversation
After reviewing your application, our Adoption Responsible will contact you for a phone or video call. This conversation allows us to get to know each other better and discuss which animal might be a good fit.
3. Meeting in person
Only after this initial exchange do we arrange an in-person visit at Takis Shelter, where you can meet the animals. We strongly believe that no dog or cat should be adopted without personal interaction, as the connection and chemistry are essential for a successful, lifelong adoption.
Important Information
All adoptions are completed in person at Takis Shelter.
Unscheduled visits are not permitted. For the safety and well-being of the animals, walk-ins will be turned away and asked to book an appointment before returning.
We do not ship dogs. It is illegal under Greek law to transport unaccompanied dogs to another country. Please do not ask.
There are no adoption fees. We only ask adopters to cover the final veterinary health check, pet passport, an IATA-compliant travel carrier, and transportation costs to the final destination.If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat and are ready to commit to a thoughtful, responsible process, please click the button below to fill out the application form.
