Takis Shelter maintains over 200 fenced areas on 200,000 square meters of private, enclosed olive groves.
The dogs and cats at Takis Shelter live in spacious, natural areas where they can run freely, rest and feel safe. They have multiple dog houses, shaded spots and small shelters where they can sleep or retreat for privacy. Every new dog is personally evaluated by Takis, who carefully places them into the group that matches their energy and temperament. This prevents conflicts and creates balanced, happy dog communities.
The shelter has grown enormously in recent years. Today it stretches across more than two hundred thousand square meters, divided into large open areas where dogs live in small, compatible groups with plenty of space to explore and play.
Our cats live in their own dedicated enclosures — fully secure and enriched — giving them freedom of movement and protection without the stress of sharing space with dogs. Each enclosure is maintained daily, ensuring the cats receive calm, structured care.
The site also includes a main house, two container houses and small living spaces for volunteers who stay long term and support the daily operations. This setup allows the team to be present around the clock and provide continuous care.
And we are still expanding. A new building is already under construction, and the shelter is being extended to improve our infrastructure even further — more space, more safety, more possibilities for future rescues.
